Not sure how I pulled this off but I managed to have one of my oldest and dearest chauffeur me all the way from Edinburgh to Orkney for a weekend roadtrip. We had a wee whisky fuelled adventure. It’s a windy and affa bonnie place.
Thank you to Samara and Colin for suggesting the trip. Can’t wait to record your big day later in the year. Many thanks for the intro to the word ‘peedie’ which is a new favourite! Thanks also for taking me to that beautiful little spot where you got engaged.
Highland Park is one of my favourite malts and it turns out that’s in part because there’s no bark in the peat on the island, just hunners of lucky heather. Boozy facts. There’s nae trees.
Other edited highlights include a wander around Stromness to find a hat (I’m that expert packer who forgets to take a jumper or anything waterproof to Iceland or a hat to Orkney), dinner and malts at The Foveran, more walks around Birsay (alas not puffin season) and Kirkwall.
Solid good times. Thanks Scotland.
